Youth Service Projects

louisThe Rotary Club of Salisbury supports a significant array of Youth Services Projects each year and allocates nearly 30% of its charitable efforts to these programs.

The goal is to create opportunities and build leadership capacity in our young leaders.

Youth Exchange (July 2016-July 2017)-  We are hosting Louis Cools a 16 year old Belgium exchange student. The provides an opportunity for cultural exchange here in Australia but also for a local young person to travel overseas for a year long exchange.

Rotary Youth Driver Awareness – A year 10 road safety program intensive day long program with two local schools (over 300 students)

Rotaract – We support our daughter club Salisbury City Rotaract Club – a service club for young community leaders aged 18-30 years

RYLA – A week long residential leadership program for 18 – 30 year olds (sponsor 2 awardees)

RYPEN – A weekend long residential enrichment program for 14-18 year olds (sponsor 5 awardees)

NYSF – National Youth Science Forum for high achieving Year 11 student to access a intensive science immersion experience in Canberra each year (sponsor 1 scholarship)

Rotary Youth Development Awards – (School Assemblies) for 9 local high schools.

Wheels in Motion – A mentor based driver training program for young people having difficulty getting their licence (and thus employment). Founding partner and sponsor.

We have also made small financial commitments to local youth initiatives including a local creche working intensively with at risk families and a statewide disability basketball carnival which is held in the Northern Suburbs.

Currently we are also progressing a youth homelessness initiative and the establishment of a Interact Club for 14-18 year olds at a local school.

We are always looking for potential Rotarians with a passion in helping our next generation.
